Full-Service Design
Will’s design influences marry contemporary, transitional and naturalistic aesthetics with a reverence for the native New England landscapes, regional materials and immediate local context. He aims to establish a collaborative design process with his clients that results in creative considerations for functionality, usability and a long term vision for relaxing and beautiful outdoor spaces.
-
Every engagement with Will Gardner Design begins with a visit to your property and initial consultation to review your needs, design aesthetic, lifestyle and existing landscape infrastructure and challenges.
-
Initial design concepts and imagery are reflected in drawings of your space with several potential directions presented to further solidify the vision for your space. Rough budgets, schedules and scopes are established.
-
After a clear design direction is established, unique design elements are studied further. Paving patterns and materials, grading and topography and requirements of local permitting bodies are considered.
-
A drawing package is developed with specifications around layout and materials, planting plans and construction methods and processes. The package is continually updated as needed and serves as a master project manual for contractors and clients alike.
-
Using an extensive network of talented tradespeople, bids are coordinated and reviewed before selecting a winning contractor for the job.
-
Continual visits to each project for on-site construction review along with Client representation through schedule and invoice management, ensuring our collective vision is executed as planned.

Consultation
Do you have a few questions and are interested in some quick feedback? On site consultations are available for those within a 30 minute drive of Marblehead. All direction and notes from Will are given on site. If our conversation turns into a larger engagement, your fee will be deducted from the larger effort.

Master Planning
A high level look at your property following a site visit to discuss various needs. The master plan develops big ideas and planning for long term implementation of your project. While we do not get into specific details, general design ideas are included with initial tasks, invasive species management practices, potential plant additions and references for additional industry support. A master plan is a great idea for clients who wish to slowly chip away at their project.
Fine Gardening
As an experienced estate gardener and horticulturist, Will still enjoys getting his hands dirty and working in the field. He offers his fine gardening services to a small, established roster of clients each season, taking on new garden projects and clients when time permits and priorities align.
